I was down visitng the family in South Florida (Pompano Beach, to be specific) this weekend and decided to leave this piece for my sister. She said she would probably lose it, so I added the name heart at the bottom … That way, if you find it, you know who it belongs to.

I drew this cute unibrow fella at the
TGI Fridays in Orlando and if you are looking for him, he is sitting behind a salt shaker. Over lunch, we (Jennifer, Ben, Miriam Reyes, Jodie and I) had an interesting discussion about facial hair …or more accurately, my ability to not grow any. ;)

Two faces in one! The bottom half of his face flips down to reveal a much happier/sinister version of himself … just like all of us. Eh? This guy (or I guess guys) got left at the Zaxby’s on John Young Parkway. Jonathan Jimison, Courtney Randazza and I had a great time enjoying some chicken there. Yum!

Oddly enough, nobody was eating ribs when I drew this. We were actually enjoying some yummy Mexican food at Garibaldi’s instead. But after dinner, the discussion somehow turned to ribs, rubs and such … hence this piece. I blame it on a convoluted conversation with Jennifer Lester, Benjamin Johnston and Jodie. ;)

If you don’t know about Matthieu Bessudo … run, don’t walk, to your lunch break and peep his crazy, hairy, and foreign illustration work. His style has definitely been an influence on my sketches lately and I love everything he does. His music is pretty sweet too.

I have been spending a lot of time lately trying to work on my prop art and usually elements of that work (mainly miscellaneous arrows and concentric circles) find their way into other pieces and sketches I do. It also seems some of my XHTML notes found their way on here too.

Wendy’s napkins are some of my favorite to draw on … slightly sturdier than others (definitely more than Taco Bell’s), and the yellow color sometimes adds a bit of reality-distortion to a piece. Courtney Randazza and I really enjoyed our viewing of the new Hellboy movie when it premiered last month. It was a late night full of wonderful goodness.

For some reason that guy reminds me of Eric Herendeen … must be because of his furry beard thing. Look close at the other sketch. It has everything that makes Arial great … which isn’t much.

Ron said something really impact-ful during his sermon last week. “We must follow Christ, even if we have to follow Him alone.”
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

The other day when we were at Sonny’s, Nathan made a whole list of wonderful blues musicians for me to spend some time listening to. Lots of people, most of which I had never heard of. It was really great, though I did find out that I am allergic to annoying people. Hmm.
